August 22 Football Picks for Inter, Napoli, Real Madrid and DOTA 2

August 21 was a rough day. We hit 50% overall. The Win-Draw-Loss picks did okay at 7 out of 10 (70%), but the Handicap picks struggled, going just 3 for 10 (30%).
This is a good reminder not to force picks just because a game looks obvious on paper. The new season is still finding its footing. Teams are adjusting their rosters, and early-season games are always a bit tricky to read.
Today’s slate still has plenty of good matchups. I’ve taken out the games we already covered, so we can focus on the remaining picks in the Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga, and DOTA 2.
Brentford vs. Tottenham
Brentford is tough to beat at home, especially when they can make the game physical and use their set-piece strength. Tottenham has more talent on paper, but their away defense is still a question mark. If Brentford can pressure them on corners and free kicks, they should be able to hang in there. I wouldn't bet on Brentford to cover a handicap win here. The safer play is just taking them to avoid losing, with a 1-1 draw looking very likely.
Best lean: Brentford win or draw.
Handicap: Brentford -1 (Loss)
Score prediction: 1-1, 2-1, 1-0
Total goals: 2 or 3
Udinese vs. Como
Como has gotten much better over the last few years. They control the ball well and have good midfield creativity. Udinese will lean on their home-field advantage and physical style, but that might not be enough to take over the game. Como should cause problems if they move the ball quickly. Still, early Serie A games are usually cautious, so don't expect a high-scoring shootout.
Best lean: Como win or draw.w
Handicap: Udinese +1 (Win/Draw)
Score prediction: 0-1, 1-1, 0-2
Total goals: 1 or 2
Inter Milan vs. Monza
Inter has a clear advantage in squad depth, possession, and attacking options. They are the heavy favorite here, and betting on them to win outright makes sense. The only catch is the two-goal handicap. It’s a steep line for an opening match, which might be a bit slow as teams get used to playing together. Inter should win, but winning by three goals is a big ask.
Best lean: Inter Milan win
Handicap: Inter Milan -2 (Draw/Loss)
Score prediction: 2-0, 1-0, 3-0
Total goals: 2 or 3
Valencia vs. Celta Vigo
Valencia has a slight edge playing at home, but Celta Vigo is no pushover. Their quick passing and counter-attacks can cause real trouble, and the overall skill gap between these two isn't huge. This looks like a tight, low-scoring game where one mistake could decide it. Taking Valencia to avoid a loss is the safer route, but a draw is very much in play.
Best lean: Valencia win or draw.
Handicap: Valencia -1 (Loss/Draw)
Score prediction: 1-1, 1-0, 0-0
Total goals: 1 or 2
Genoa vs. Napoli
Napoli has the better squad, controls possession well, and creates more chances. They should dominate the ball in this matchup. However, Genoa is pretty gritty at home on defense. Because of that, a narrow away win is much more realistic than a blowout. Napoli is still the right side to back, but the handicap needs some protection.
Best lean: Napoli win.
Handicap: Genoa +1 (Draw/Loss)
Score prediction: 0-1, 0-2, 1-2
Total goals: 1 or 2
Parma vs. Cagliari
This is one of the most evenly matched games on the board. Neither team has a clear edge, and both will probably play it safe early in the season to avoid dropping points. A draw is the top pick here, with a narrow Cagliari win as a backup. There is no reason to think Parma will win by two goals or more.
Best lean: Draw or Cagliari win
Handicap: Parma -1 (Loss)
Score prediction: 1-1, 0-1, 0-0
Total goals: 1 or 2
Nice vs. Lorient
Nice looks stronger on paper, but Lorient is dangerous on the counter-attack. Lorient pulled off upsets against better teams last season and has the speed to punish Nice if they leave gaps in their defense. Nice’s home-field advantage isn't enough to justify a big handicap. The better value is on Lorient to avoid a loss, with a draw as the most likely outcome.
Best lean: Draw or Lorient win
Handicap: Nice -1 (Loss)
Score prediction: 1-1, 1-2, 0-1
Total goals: 2 or 3
Toulouse vs. Lyon
Lyon kept their core squad together, and their midfield and attack have way more individual talent than Toulouse. They should control the game and create the best chances over 90 minutes. Toulouse’s home crowd might help them hold on for a while, but their offense will struggle against a deeper Lyon team. Lyon should win this, but a close, one-goal victory is more likely than a blowout.
Best lean: Lyon win or draw.
Handicap: Toulouse +1 (Draw/Loss)
Score prediction: 1-2, 0-1, 0-2
Total goals: 2 or 3
Espanyol vs. Real Madrid
Real Madrid has a few injury worries, but their core talent is still obvious. With Mbappé, Vinícius, and Bellingham, Madrid has a massive attacking edge and a much deeper bench than Espanyol. Espanyol will be highly motivated for their first home game, but Madrid is still much more likely to control the pace and take all three points. There is no need to chase a massive three-goal blowout here.
Best lean: Real Madrid win
Handicap: Espanyol +1 (Draw/Loss)
Score prediction: 0-1, 0-2, 1-2
Total goals: 2 or 3
DOTA 2: Nigma Galaxy vs. BoomBoys
BoomBoys are the clear favorites, with a win rate around 61% and odds near 1.55. Nigma is priced closer to 2.45, but this might not be as one-sided as the odds suggest. Both teams are 3-3 in elimination map records. BoomBoys beat Iron Wing 2-1 in the last round, while Nigma lost a close one to Yandex. Nigma should be able to take at least one map, so there is no need to bet on BoomBoys to win by 1.5 maps.
Best lean: BoomBoys win
Handicap: Nigma +1.5 maps
Score prediction: 1-2, 0-2, 2-1
Over/Under: Over 2.5 games
Primary outcome: Nigma 1-2 BoomBoys
DOTA 2: TEAM VISION vs. Team Yandex
TEAM VISION is on a nine-match winning streak and has a perfect 100% win rate over the last 30 days. They already beat BoomBoys and Team Spirit in the elimination stage, proving their form isn't just against weak teams. Yandex is also playing well after beating Liquid 2-0 and Nigma 2-1. However, the market heavily favors VISION, with odds around 1.28 compared to about 3.50 for Yandex. Betting the straight win is the strongest play, and the -1.5 handicap is a good option if you want extra value.
Best lean: TEAM VISION win
Handicap: TEAM VISION -1.5 (Playable)
Score prediction: 2-0, 2-1
Over/Under: Under 2.5 games (hedge Over)
Primary outcome: TEAM VISION 2-0 Team Yandex
Final Match Priority
The safest straight-win picks today are Inter Milan, Napoli, Real Madrid, BoomBoys, and TEAM VISION. In these matchups, the skill gap or recent momentum gives us the clearest edge.
For the trickier games(Brentford, Como, Valencia, Parma, Nice, and Toulouse), playing it safe with a draw cover makes more sense. The teams are closer in skill, and early-season unpredictability is still a factor.
Keep your stakes small and treat these as personal pre-match thoughts. The season just started, so sticking to a disciplined bankroll strategy is much more important than trying to force a perfect winning streak.
